Senna, the 'King of Monaco' McLaren Livery for Monaco Grand Prix

Ayrton Senna McLaren 1988 Monaco Gran Prix

Ayrton Senna was known as the unofficial ‘King of Monaco’. He has won the famed Grand Prix more than any other Formula One driver, (6 victories, with 5 pole-positions). His 1988 Qualifying lap is heralded as one of the greatest in F1 history.

“Suddenly I realized that I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension,” quoted Senna.

Having achieved the “Flow State” of consciousness, we thankfully can see some of this lap first-hand in an exclusive clip from the film SENNA.

McLaren Racing Senna Livery for Monaco 2024

This weekend McLaren Racing is showing a one-off livery for its cars, as well as a one-off Senna road car called Senna Sempre edition to commemorate his legacy.

“The team is proud to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary life and racing legacy of Ayrton Senna through this McLaren livery,” said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown. “Senna remains revered and respected as Formula 1’s greatest icon, and McLaren’s most decorated driver. His impact on McLaren is enormous, not only through his racing record but also presence within the team, and now his legacy, so it’s an honor to race for him at his most successful circuit in his green, yellow and blue colors.”

The Monaco Grand Prix airs on ESPN+ at 7:30am, Sunday May, 26.
