Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Claims World Record
The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has claimed the world record for 0–400–0 km/h (0–250–0 mph) in just 25.21 seconds! In an incredible display of internal-combustion fortitude and adaptability, the Swedish hypercar achieved the feat thanks in part to software improvements included in its “Absolut Overdrive” upgrade.
Its twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 and low-drag aerodynamic components helped it reach the mark with precision. More details are available in the duPont Registry posting found here.
Suffice it to say, the horsepower and speed war has been over for some time. The advent of EVs brought that about more than many might have imagined. Today, consumers and enthusiasts seem to be leaning more toward the experience and connection with a vehicle rather than sheer performance figures alone. We crave the intangible thrill of wrestling with a machine to achieve performance — and while the Koenigsegg makes light work of that challenge, it would be an unforgettable experience to have.
While the latest Shelby GT500 has yet to be officially confirmed, signs point to something wicked coming from Dearborn. The biggest clue isn’t in the visuals — it’s in the sound. No EV whine here. Instead, the unmistakable burble of a domestic V8 comes through loud and clear.
Rumored to carry the codename Legend, the S650-based Mustang could pack up to 800 horsepower and is expected to make its debut this week in Monterey.
